This unusual Turkmen Tekke Tribal Tobacco-Snuff Box is also known as a Nas Kedi. It was handcrafted of a hollowed gourd with ornate mountings and finished with a chain for hanging from the waist in the traditional tribal manner. Boxes like these have been used for generations among the Turkmen Tekke Tribal people, and are often represented historical literature from the region. These contemporary Tobacco containers were handcrafted by Afghan Tribal artisans to capture the essence of ancient artifacts.
