Wonderful old Turkmen Tribal Jewelry clasp pendants - doonbajiks, also called capraz. The large pendants are worn in pairs often at a Turkmen woman's neck area to function as large clasps holding the opposite sides of her cloak together. They can also be worn on long panels of decorated fabric that stream down either side of the body to about waist length. They can also be worn as necklaces, strung on cords or ribbons, or attached to headpieces, especially at the sides or back of the head. It is unsual to find a complete pair of doonbajiks of this age, so we are selling these as a pair only. Handcrafted approximately 70 years ago. Rich patina on backs for collectors.
