The beautiful silver pendant on this antique Tibetan Necklace is handcrafted in the shape of a butterfly with the head of a monkey. It was handcrafted approximately 70 - 100 yeas ago on the Tibetan plateau. In Tibet the monkey is one of the 4 friends...the elephant, the monkey, the hare and the partidge...who symbolize harmony. On their quests for enlightenment, monks are often shown in drawings as following a path of medication accompanied by these companions. Hindus revere Hanuman, the monkey god, as a symbol for pure faithfulness. The butterfly and moth are considered the symbol of the soul in Tibet. In addition to its beauty, this necklace carries high spiritual worth for the wearer.
