Unique Large Antique Tibetan Jewelry Brass Pendant necklace of Conch Shell, Turquoise, and Coral. Meticulously hand crafted with ornate traditional designs. The back of the main pendant has a substantial patina that is so highly valued by collectors. Patinas in Tibetan Jewelry is actually quite rare since these pieces usually come out of Tibet clean and pristine, regardless of age...so this is an especially unusual piece. The patina can be easily removed, however, we leave it on for sale because it is so highly valued.

 

This necklace is rich with Tibetan Symbolism and meaning. The conch shell itself is highly revered because of the great distances it must travel to reach Tibet - which is a land locked country well about sea level ("a land of the clouds"). Conch shell is used only in the most precious jewelry items, and white conch is even more valuable since white is the highest sacred color. The swirls of Turquoise and Coral in the conch shells on the chain represent the spirals of unfolding wisdom. The running borders along the edges of the pendant and side pieces are intended to bring long life to the wearer. Collectible Museum Quality one of a kind piece. The side chains have been recently restrung with the old beads because the original cording had worn away long ago.
