This large contemporary Tribal Jewelry Necklace was handcrafted to capture the essence of Kazakh Turkmen Jewelry. The Large Heart shaped pendant with dangles is rimmed with a row of repeating triangles - typical of ancient Kazakh Tribal Jewelry. The decorative 4 central designs, or plaques, are typical of the nearby Yamut tribe's Turkmen Jewelry. Completing the amazing pendant is a stone of Afghan Lapis Lazuli at the center. The Neckband is black cording strung with classic Afghan dome beads. Afghan dome beads that have been made the same way for centuries -- by shaping each half into a dome and then fusing 2 domes together to form a round bead with a decorative rim around its circumference.

 

Turkmen Women's Jewelry is notoriously large - some claim that it reflects ancient times when Turkmen women were warriors fighting along side their men, and that the large size of their jewelry is reminsicent the armor that they once wore in battle.
