Antique Tibetan Jewelry Large Pendant - Sacred Flame (Agni) Silverwork - Collectible Museum Quality
This large Antique Tibetan Pendant was handcrafted approximately 70 years ago handcrafted in silver, turquoise, coral, and amber. See IMAGES for detailed look.
This beautiful large pendant has a mild patina and gorgeous silverwork depicting the sacred flame (Agni) held in clouds. The Agni is sometimes called the "blaze of awareness fire." It symbolizes pure wisdom that blazes like the sun but is never consumed. The wisdom generated by this flame is so intense that it is said to terrify all evil spirits, defeating them into extinction, protectecting all who wear it. The swirling clouds in shich the fire burns are equally revered in Tibet - a land locked country that is well-above sea level, often called "the land of the clouds." The deep turquoise stone in the center is set in an ornate silver bezel, and is the color of Turquoise found in Tibet's Flying Horse mine. The upper stone is deep red coral, and the lower crescent moon shaped bead is real Tibetan Amber. It has an large silver ornately crafted bail set on a hinge for accepting a large chain, ribbon, or cord. Unique old piece of Antique Tibetan Jewelry, Collectible Museum Quality.
It is becoming harder and harder to find old pieces like this one because for the past several years during dire economic times, families often melted down their old jewelry for its value in silver.
