Cuff Bracelets such as this are classic Turkmen Tribal Jewelry pieces, traditionally worn by women at celebrations, usually in pairs with one on each arm. The Turkmen call these bracelets Qasli Bilezik, and each band is called a qoshmah. The Khazaki design of this large Turkmen Bracelet is immediately apparent in the granulation technique, in which tiny beads of silver metal are fused to the cuff in repeating triangular patterns. The 9 Afghan Lapis Lazuli stones on each bracelet are carefully set in raised bezels for added dimension. The terminals have rows of 7 claws each, representing stylized Tiger Teeth, fangs, or claws that fiercely protect the wearer.
