Turkmen Traditional Embroidered Cap (Taqiyah) - Vintage Tribal Head Wear
This is a gorgeous vintage Traditional Turkmen Cap, called a Taqiyah or Tahya that is worn throughout Central Asia, especially among the Altaic and Uzbek Turkmen people. It was intricately hand embroidered, including the quilt-stitched fabric lining for extra shape and comfort. The brightly colored embroidery was created by a highly skilled hand using the traditional dense chain-stitch with naturally dyed threads, a blend of wool and cotton.
The elaborate embroidery on Taqiyah caps often displays geometric or floral patterns, as seen here. They are worn equally by both men, women and children. This is an exceptionally fine example of a vintage Takiyah cap with small tight embroidery in a stunning design of rich natural colors in excellent condition.
