Turkmen Traditional Embroidered Cap (Taqiyah) - Vintage Tribal Head Wear
Gorgeous Traditional Turkmen Caps called Taqiyah or Tahya are worn throughout Central Asia, especially among the Altaic Turkmen people. They are intricately hand embroidered and have stitched padding for shaping and comfort. The brightly colored embroidery design is hand done in a traditional dense chain stitch using threads that are naturally dyed. The extensive designs are often geometric or floral patterns, as seen here. They are worn equally by both men and women. The Tahya skull cap itself is a blend of wool and cotton.
