The Turkmen Tekke Heykel on this necklace is a large square pendant that opens like a box for storing sacred and secret writings. The wearer can keep their treasured items close to them at all times in this wonderful heykel necklace. 

 

Heykels have been used for centuries by members of the 5 Turkmen tribes. This Heykel  is a classic example of the Turkmen Tekke tradition, which uses red stones set in raised bezels and goldwash accents over silver in patterns of stylized birds and flames. This Heykel is contemporary replica of ancient pieces and captures the tribal essence perfectly, including the sturdy leather neckband embellished with small Turkmen medallions. It was handcrafted of sturdy metal by Turkmen Tribal Jewellery artisans living in Peshawar along the Afghan border.
