Old Yomud Turkmen Tumar Necklace - Handcrafted Collectible Tribal Jewellery

This gorgeous old Yomut Turkmen Tumar Necklace was handcrafted last century by Tribal artisans. The 3-dimensional large pendant portions includes a tube-shpaed Tumar portion intended for safekeeping secrets, prayers, and wishes.
This amazing piece is finished with ornate Yomut gold-washed (gilded) plaques. The side chains are equally ornate and beautifully handcrafted. Raised vibrant carnelian stones sit in raised bezels, symbolizing an enriched life for the wearer. The necklace culminates in a traditional flat leather strap around the back of the neck - leather is often used in tribal jewelry from this region, and represents the bounty of the hunt bestowed on the wearer's family. Perfectly formed bell dangles create a soft sound with movement. One of a kind.
